Covid-19 Update from GMU

In light of the current Covid-19 pandemic and for the health and safety of our employees, Greenfield Municipal Utilities and City of Greenfield City Hall will be closed to the public effective immediately until further notice. 

We encourage our customers to use alternate payment options until further notice. 

* Outside Dropbox: Cash, check or money order payments can be put into the outside drop box on the East side of our building.  Keep in mind that extra cash will be applied to your account as no cash back will be given with these policies.


* Online payments may be made at https://www.govpaynow.com/gps/user/cyg/plc/a0020y using your GMU account number.  Please call our office if you need your account number or the balance due.

* Telephone payments can be made by calling 1-888-604-7888, option 1.  The location code requested is a0020y and then you will need your account number and amount you wish to pay.  UPDATE 3/18/20 - we have learned that the call center taking our telephone payments has closed until further notice.  In the interim, GMU staff will take your card payment over the phone at 641-743-2741.

Please note that GMU staff CANNOT take card payments over the phone.

Automatic withdrawal of GMU payments: Paymatic enrollment forms are available online at https://www.gmu-ia.com/apply-for-service.cfm and dropped off in our outside dropbox.  Payments are withdrawn on the 17th of each month so this could be set up for as early as April withdrawal.

In the event of needing new service or changing your existing service, all forms needed are found online at https://www.gmu-ia.com/apply-for-service.cfm to print and drop off in our dropbox.  The Application for Service needs to be completed by anyone 18 years and older living in the residence along with a copy of a photo id for each person over 18 years old.  You can take a picture of the photo id’s and email them to jessica.foster@gmu-ia.com if you aren’t able to make a copy of them.  There is a $75 nonrefundable new customer charge for new customers (a “new customer” hasn’t been a GMU customer for more than 2 years if ever) and a $25 read fee for any accounts moving to a new location.  These amounts can be paid online at https://www.govpaynow.com/gps/user/cyg/plc/a002hh.  If there is no way for you to complete the paperwork outside of our office, please call and make arrangements to meet with a GMU employee to complete your service application. 

At this time, fax and copying service to the public have been terminated until the office is again open to the public. 

The office will remain staffed during the normal business hours of 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM Monday through Friday at this time.  If that changes in the coming weeks, we will notify our customers at that time.

The meeting room at City Hall has also been closed until further notice.  Our office will be attempting to contact everyone who has a current reservation in the next few weeks.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we all learn to navigate around the current recommendations while keeping everyone as safe as possible.
